So the word is out that a dude in China, Mo Yan, aged 57 has been selected for the Nobel Prize for literature. His writing is described as a blending of magic realism and social realism. That’s literary terms for weird stuff that is confusing and therefore good, or which us popular fiction types call fantasy fiction written well but more character driven than plot driven. This is China’s first Nobel prize. I don’t know how they are going to react to the win, probably make him a national hero, which wouldn’t be surprising as he is said to tow the national party line. The dude is currently trending on Twitter. Go figure.
In other news, Vampire Diaries Season 4 is hitting the US (you lucky devils!) and WH Smith are said to be considering open Book Only stores. What is the world coming to. Book only stores? That will never work! Will it?
