COVID DIARY: DAY 25 Tesco Delivery Day

Strange how exciting a simple thing like getting groceries delivered to the house has become. My wife finally got a delivery slot and today was the day. A collection of bags full of groceries to replenish the pantry and the fridge that was starting to look ever so slightly bare.

Among the earthly delights were luxury items such as crisps and biscuits! Now we know why the people on I’m a Celebrity get excited about things we take for granted. But the most magical thing that came out of the bags; another packet of bagels. Any bready treat feels like magic.

I spoke briefly to the delivery driver. He wasn’t wearing any protective gear. They just have to use hand sanitiser after every delivery. I had my leather gloves on. Once he’d finished piling our shopping into the vestibule, I thanked him and carried it into the kitchen.

In other news, I started Uncharted 4 and marvelled at the huge leap in graphics between 3 and 4. Even remastered, the last gen versions, whilst pretty, lack the finer nuances of facial expressions, movement of fabric and the atmospheric effects that the current gen consoles handling exquisitely. We still haven’t really seen what leap the next generation will provide.

I am grateful for all the blessings of food and (post)modern luxuries we are afforded that has made being in lockdown so easy. People complain about the possible mental effects of being isolated at home, but I feel that this has been a blessing in disguise. I feel my mental and physical health has improved. I train every day, read, hang out with my son. These are also blessings that I am grateful for.
